FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Are there any restrictions when it comes to the construction of an art sled?
Not at alll – you can build whatever you imagine! Plastic sleds or skis are generally great for the foundation of your
sled, and cardboard works great to build out the frame. The only request we make is that you build your sled with
some notion of safety in mind. Sleds don’t always steer straight down the hill, so be mindful of how your sled will
come apart if you hit a sidewall or veer towards spectators. If you’re anticipating a bumpy ride, bring along a helmet!
We’ll ask that you sign a waiver when you register your sled for the rally.
Beyond that, have fun and build something out of your wildest imaginations!
Is there a limit to how many people can ride in one art sled?
Nope! The more the merrier!
Are there prizes?
Yes! Three judges will score the event privately and choose winners in the following categories.
• Most Creative Sled: $50
• Most Hilarious Sled: $50
• Most Spectacular Spill: $25
• Longest Distance: $25
What time should I show up to the Big Nansen with my sled?
11:00am. If your sled requires assembly work at the hill, you’re welcome to show up earlier. We’ll have a bonfire
burning and hot drinks on hand. The event begins at noon and the first sled will likely go down the hill at 12:15pm.
You’ll have to register to participate in the event, which should be a short process.
Will there be concessions?
We're working on that! We hope to provide Hot chocolate, hot cider, etc. for free for Nansen Ski Club members.
Rally participants are also provided free drinks. We’ll ask for $1 per drink for everyone else attending. Nansen Ski
Club memberships will also be available for purchase.
Will there be bathroom facilities?
Yep! ! is providing porta-potties at the Big Nansen Ski Jump for the event
Is there anyone I can talk to about how to go about building my sled?
Yes! Faith Kimball, contact info below.
Will there be a place to dispose of my sled after the event?
No. The organizers of this event asking for everyone’s help to ensure that the landing at Big Nansen is tidy after the
event. Please take your sled home with you afterwards. Thanks!
Can I take my dog to the event?
We’re anticipating that it will be a pretty bustling scene, so it may not be the best idea to bring along pets. However,
if you need to bring old Rover along, please keep him leashed and make sure to clean up after him.
What is the parking situation for the event?
If you are participating in the rally and dropping off your sled, you can unload your sled at the entrance lot to the jump
and then park your vehicle either along the perimeter fence at the landing or on Route 16.
Who can I contact with questions?
